The facts about the Fiber

Spectra Fiber is an ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) fiber that is stronger and lighter than other ingredient fibers. It is 15 times stronger than steel, 30% stronger than aramid and lighter than most natural, synthetic and composite fibers.

It is also remarkably versatile and can be blended with natural and synthetic fibers to form superior products and materials. It’s the perfect ingredient fiber for high-performance apparel, outdoor gear and consumer products and can be engineered to achieve any color.

HOW IS IT MADE?

Created using a gel-spinning process, which forms long oriented molecular chains as the fiber is drawn, Spectra Fiber can be produced as continuous filament yarn, staple fiber (for spun yarns) and as a laminated structure (Spectra GRIDTM) offering the ultimate in strength and performance. Gel-spun high molecular weight polethylene results in a super strong fiber with high resistance to abrasion and high breaking strength.
